Jetstar are an Australian low-cost airline, owned and operated by Qantas. Jetstar have been flying since 2003, and have since become an incredibly well-known and utilised airline across Australia, as well as New Zealand. Along with it's sister airlines, Jetstar Asia and Jetstar Pacific, the airline has extended its reach to include a number of Asia destinations as well as the Pacific Islands.
Jetstar operate domestically across New Zealand, and until recently included flights to regional centres. However those services have been discontinued as of December 2019.
Jetstar are easily recognisable for their bright orange star logo, and attendants wear orange jackets as part of their uniforms.
The Jetstar fleet currently numbers 71 aircraft, including Boeing 787's and Airbus A320 and A321's.
Jetstar fly from Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch, Dunedin and Queenstown, and offer flights between cities as well as to Australia and beyond. Direct flights to the Cook Islands are also available. Any international flights beyond Australia (except the Cook Islands) will transit in an Australian city (Sydney, Melbourne or the Gold Coast).
Passengers can fly to a range of destinations on Jetstar from New Zealand, including Australia, Hawaii, Singapore, Vietnam, Japan and more.
Jetstar feature a range of sales on top of their already budget fares, making them a great competitor in both the domestic and international markets.
Jetstar run a sale on most Fridays, beginning at 12pm local time. The destinations on sale vary week to week, often featuring domestic deals but often also cheap fares to Australia, Cook Islands and Hawaii.
Popping up once or twice throughout the year, return fare prices are halved with with awesome sale. Destinations on sale can vary, though it often includes domestic, as well as Australia, Bali and Thailand. There is also a specific 'Japan - Return for Free' sale, covering flights to Tokyo and Osaka (via Cairns or the Gold Coast).
Every year in early May, Jetstar celebrate their birthday with a snazzy sale across the network. Fares have been seen before for as low as $25!

Jetstar operate as a low-cost carrier, so all of their starter fares only include carry-on baggage up to 7kg (across two pieces), and no meals or entertainment.
Baggage can be added on individually, or passengers can choose a 'bundle' when booking, which adds baggage, meals and other extras.
Baggage costs and bundles vary depending on destination, however the maximum checked luggage passengers can take is 30kg. Extra cabin baggage can also be added on to a total of 14kg for some routes.
Meals and drinks, as well as entertainment, can be pre-booked, or paid for on the flight. Entertainment may be accessed via ipads handed out by staff, or through the in-seat screens depending on aircraft and route.
Jetstar offer three options for check in: online, via the app or at the airport check-in counter. The app also allows mobile boarding passes to be presented for domestic NZ and AUS flights.
Online check in is not available for flights to the United States, if you have an infant or if you need special assistance.
Jetstar don't run their own Frequent Flyer program, however you are still able to earn points through the Qantas Frequent Flyer program, or the Emirates Skywards program. These points can be used for future flights, upgrades or extras with Qantas or Emirates, or can be used on Jetstar flights operated by Qantas or Emirates.

They also offer membership to 'Club Jetstar', which, for an annual fee, allows customers early access to sales, member-only fares, discounts on baggage and other special offers.
