The hardy capital of Poland survived near total destruction during WWII. But it rose from the ashes to become one of Europe's leading cities. These days, a rejuvenated Old Town reveals glimpses of medieval streets lined with colorful guild houses and interspersed with market squares. Enthralling museums speak of heroic Polish uprisings against Nazi rule. And a modern edge means shopping malls and university districts that brim with boho bars come pulsing with beer crawls and nightlife dives. Cheap flights to Warsaw from New Zealand usually take in the region of between 25-32 hours.
